What does it mean to be in the ‘will of God’?

Recently, with great frustration, I kicked my clothesline. That action hurt my foot. It didn’t much bother the clothesline.

I was feeling frustrated, because the clothesline kept rotating while I was trying to peg clothes on it. This annoyed me, because it was not serving its very purpose of existence. It took so much more energy to do my job, because it wasn’t doing its.

Are there times in your life when you have felt fear? Perhaps you are going through a place of upheaval, drama, or change? Have you ever had an intruder come into your home?

It was a Christmas Eve, like any other, except, our front yard entertained police cars, our backyard hosted police officers, and gun shots were heard by our alarmed neighbours.

Have you ever acted out of character on purpose? Perhaps wanted to redefine your identity?

“You are the best swearer I know!” my high school clarinet teacher used to say to me. He said this, because I’d never sworn, and had suggested that if I ever did, it would be noticed. Swearing was such a common practice in my high school, that the words my classmates would say frequently for effect, no longer had any.

Do you have days that you feel a bit lost or stuck? Perhaps you are in a season of turbulence or great change?

The Lord can be described as being like a strong tower that we can retreat to for safety at all times we need.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬

Have you ever questioned your prayer life? Do you pray? How does Jesus talk to you?

“I will make you pancakes today, and after I talk to my friend, we can eat them together” I said to my daughter early this morning, as I walked into my office to make a short phone call.

Unbeknown to me, she thought I meant we were having a visitor come over to our home, and at some point, while I was talking on the phone, she offered a silent prayer, “Dear Jesus, I hope the friend comes soon so I can eat pancakes.”

When on a plane, I want to fly safe! To ensure this, there are all types of safety procedures in place. One of those procedures is to check a passenger and their baggage through a security checkpoint.

I sit on my childhood mountain bike, overlooking a network of trails. This is my first ride on a real track. I am surrounded by thick forest. I feel prepared. I’m a competent bike rider.

The delicately decorated Sugar Easter Egg, gifted to me that morning, now lay broken in the backseat of our car. I had woken abruptly from a deep sleep, launching forward into the safety of my seat belt’s grip, after our family of four unexpectedly became involved in a five-car chain accident on our way home from visiting friends.
