Resilience

What do you see in this picture? Perhaps nothing special? A bit of green and yellow?

I have a question… what plants are good and what plants are bad in your garden? What plants are worthy of only compost and what are of value? Who is the gardener at your place?

In part of my childhood home’s front yard grows soursobs in abundance. A plant that most people consider to be a notorious weed.

To me, this plant is a childhood edible delight and has always supplied part of my childhood home’s garden with a beautiful bright green lawn, once mowed.

My childhood home’s soil is made up of mostly clay. Many plants struggle to survive in this type of soil. Soursobs are hardy and resilient, and can flourish in almost any soil they find themself in. Their root system is designed to grow quickly, efficiently and spread easily.

To some people, soursobs may only be seen worthy of removal, but I see them as a gift of God’s.

They inspire me to desire a soursob-like spiritual life. To thrive in abundance of resilience.

To be able to stand and survive in any place I find myself in, God as my gardener.
